Officially out of preplanned filler here. I had a whole queue, and I was happy. Now, what with TMI going by the wayside apparently and Flash Fiction Friday replacing porn, well, shucks, I guess I'm going to have to sink or swim.
Sveta is coming home next weekend. The amount of time that poor girl has spent studying is unreal. Stupid exams. Never liked them myself. The annoying thing is that she will have to stay with her evil step-family (I'm reduced to faerie tale language to define the situation) as opposed to her real family, because she'd like very much for them to keep paying for some tuition. But hopefully she'll be spending a lot of free time over at her real home. Can you tell I've moved beyond being guilty about stealing her from her family? Because I have. Bastards. They don't deserve her.
I am rather busy for the early part of the summer and Sveta swears up and down that she will get a job if it kills her, so we may not be spending as much together time as either of us would like, which pisses me off. But we're going to try to go to Kate's beginning of summer party in June, which should be interesting. Whether that's "interesting-Lexi's-writing-about-conjoined-twins-fucking" or "interesting-Chinese-curse" or even "interesting-something-to-tell-the-kids-when-we're-old" I don't know.
What's more, Mike may join us again. May. He's gradumatating next week. So proud. We might actually get to see him for more than a week. But he's got to run off and get a job too, so not for long. Maybe a month? We can but hope. We can also but hope that his gradumatation (yes, I shall persist in spelling it that way) might draw his older sisters out of the woodwork. Might. It's a big day, and we all went to Mari's gradumatation, and mine, and Sheri's (from high school, but still). Sveta's crushed she won't be able to go. She can gradumatate him herself once they're both in the same room, I'm sure.
So yeah, lots going on, little time to talk about it, so some things may get lost in the shuffle. Plus work. Plus other crap. Hooray.
Oh, and by the way, I am super duper thrilled for Sephi. I don't know her as well as some, but I'm still super duper thrilled. As a firm believer in happy families, every little bit helps. Also, shout out to one of my readers, Mary, for whom I'm also super duper thrilled. And for those of you for whom I'm not super duper thrilled, get working on that, okay? I'm tired of being empathetically sad.
And fuck it, if you haven't heard Flyleaf's Chasm, get out and support a rocker grrl, a species which is looking rather endangered recently. Christ, I remember the heady days of the early 90s when tough rockin' chicks were the rule rather than the exception (okay, maybe less of the exception, because they've always been somewhat thin on the ground). I mean, it's no Babes in Toyland, more like Evanescence, but still.
Now that's filler for ya!
